Cold Breakfast

A new five-star hotel was recently opened in the Gulshan area - The Westin. It's a little over the top and the interior decor is a little cluttered and mixed up for my taste. (Think huge marble columns and too many pieces of modern furniture stuffed into the lobby. Modern is supposed to be very minimal and clean - not CLUTTERED!!)

I digress. They have a very nice deli on the ground floor of the Westin. A few weekends ago, I bought some smoked salmon, sliced turkey and a nice loaf of brown baguette. I LOVE me some turkey! (It's not really available here in Dhaka.)

It was expensive, but I had a really nice brunch of cold cuts, salmon, double (fat) cream cheese, capers and gherkins with brown baguette. I also sliced up some shallots (or very small read onions) and let them sit for a few minutes in plain white vinegar, which takes off the sharp onion edge and gives it a nice tartness. It basically helps to dull that sharpness that makes your nose itch and your eyes water.)

YUMMMMMM...
