Tonite for Timoz

I typically try to cook something nice for Timoz' dinner when I have the time. Tonite he had both appetizers and an entree...what a lucky guy!

Starters: edamame hummus and tuna poke (first time I've ever made poke!). Poke is a Hawaiian dish made with raw sashimi grade fish tossed in soy sauce, sesame oil, scallions and sesame seeds. I also added a quick pickle of thinly sliced slivers of young ginger and some radish sprouts for bite and texture. I meant to add some broken pieces of sesame candy crisps from my recent trip to Whistler, Canada...but I forgot. Guess I will have to make this again! (Pls also note that these are store bought chips pictured, not homemade.)

Entree - seared Omaha Wagyu beef tri-tip on miso dressed spring greens. I was being lazy and used my ScanPan. I think I should have dragged out my cast iron pan for a better sear. (Also note that I unfortunately did not make the dressing. A girl can only do so much!)

Timoz Tips - feedback from Tim:

1.) Edamame hummus could have been thinned out a bit. He thought that while it was tasty, he found it a little to thick and pastelike. He kept breaking his tortilla chips in it.

2.) He could have done without the radish sprouts - he thinks sprout taste like dirt in general.
